Big-hearted brekkiePERHAPS they've gone mad; possibly it's a stroke of marketing genius, or simply a straightforward example of compassion in tough — and cynical — times. Whatever the case, St Kilda One Fitzroy Street has announced it will be giving away breakfast for the next month to assist people in belt-tightening economic times. There's no catch: anyone fronting Wednesday to Friday between 7am and 9am will be given a free "Big Breakfast" and coffee. While the free brekkie deal is meant for locals, no one will be asked for proof of residence. The offer starts tomorrow and continues until May 22. Form an orderly queue, people. FREE cooked breakfasts will have locals starting their day sunnyside-up. One Fitzroy Street decided to thank the community for its support, serving free hot breakfasts Wednesday to Friday, from 7-9am. One Fitzroy Street’s big breakfast is normally $12 with a coffee. “All of the locals have helped us for so many years,”. “It’s not a lot, but it’s something, and it is better something than nothing.” They came up with the idea three weeks ago and was hoping suppliers supported there initiative. no strings attached.
